JAC iEV7S is a front-wheel drive electric hatchback of a subcompact category (aka "B-class" by European standards), which is called by the company itself as a crossover (however, the mono-drive layout and the amount of ground clearance cast doubt on this). The Chinese position their "brainchild" as an "electric train" that everyone can afford, and the reason for this is its compact size and relatively (very relatively) affordable price ...

For the first time JAC iEV7S was shown to the general public in April 2017 at the stands of the International Shanghai Motor Show, and in August 2018, the electric car was demonstrated to the Russian public as part of a motor show in Moscow ... But if the five-door has been on sale in its homeland for several years now, then she reached Russia only in September 2020, and straight from the Kazakh plant "SaryarkaAvtoProm".

Outside, JAC iEV7S has quite a nice, proportional and modern, but completely unremarkable appearance, in which there is nothing to catch the eye. A pompous "physiognomy" with a frowning squint of headlights, a "solid" radiator grille and a raised bumper, a balanced silhouette with expressive sidewalls, a sloping roof and small overhangs, a lean stern with unpretentious headlights and a powerful bumper - in general, the car looks good, but nothing more.

Size and weight

The JAC iEV7S measures 4135 mm in length, 1750 mm in width, and does not exceed 1560 mm in height. The wheelbase of the electric vehicle extends to 2490 mm, and its ground clearance is a very modest 130 mm.

In the equipped form, the five-door weighs 1460 kg, and its total weight fits in 1835 kg.

Interior

The interior of the electric car looks attractive, modern and really solid - a digital instrument cluster, a three-spoke multi-steering wheel with embossed tides in the correct grip area, a neat center console with an 8-inch touchscreen of the infotainment complex and an extremely simple air conditioning unit. In addition to this, the inside of the car boasts well-thought-out ergonomics and high-quality finishing materials (especially adjusted for class).

According to the passport, the JAC iEV7S salon has a five-seater layout, but in fact, only two adult passengers will sit most comfortably in the back. At the front, there are ergonomically profiled seats with an unobtrusive side profile and sufficient adjustment ranges. On the second row there is a comfortable sofa with soft filler and an almost flat floor, but of the additional amenities there is only a folding armrest with cup holders.

The trunk of an electric car is small, but quite acceptable by the standards of the B-class - its volume in its normal state is 347 liters. The back of the "gallery" is folded in two parts, increasing the capacity of the compartment more than twice, but in this case, a large step and a sloping surface are obtained. In a niche under the raised floor there is a foam box with a set of tools and a pair of charging cables.

Specifications

The JAC iEV7S is powered by a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor with an internal rotor that generates 115 horsepower (85 kW) and 270 Nm of torque, and all this potential is transmitted to the front wheels via an automatic gearbox with speed reducer.

The electric motor is "powered" by a three-component Samsung traction battery (it is made using aluminum, cobalt and nickel) with a liquid cooling capacity of 39 kW / h, which provides the car with a "range" of 280 km on a single charge on a NEDC cycle (but if you move with a constant speed of 60 km / h, the mileage increases to 380 km). It will take about seven hours to fully charge the batteries from an ordinary household outlet, while 80% of the electricity can be replenished from the "fast" terminal in just an hour.

In addition to this, the electric car has good driving characteristics: it accelerates from one place to the first "hundred" in 11 seconds, and is capable of reaching 130 km / h as much as possible.

Design features

The JAC iEV7S is based on a budget "front-wheel drive" platform, borrowed from the S2 SUV and implying the presence of a monocoque body with abundant use of high-strength steel in the power structure. The front axle of the electric hatch is suspended using an independent suspension of the MacPherson type, and the rear - using a semi-independent system with a torsion beam ("in a circle" - with anti-roll bars).

The car is equipped with a gear-rack-type steering complex with an integrated electric power steering. All wheels of the five-door are equipped with disc brakes (ventilated at the front), working together with ABS, EBD and other electronic "gadgets".

Options and prices

In the Russian market, JAC iEV7S is sold in one configuration under the name Luxury, for which the minimum price is 2,299,000 rubles.

In the "base" the electric car has: two airbags, 16-inch alloy wheels, a digital instrument cluster, a media center with an 8-inch screen, ABS, EBD, ESP, front and rear parking sensors, "leather" trim, all-round cameras, keyless entry to the salon, heated front seats, electric drive and heated side mirrors, four power windows, single-zone climate control, an audio system with six columns and other options.
