Kia ProCeed is a front-wheel drive coupe-station wagon (or in other words - “shooting brake”) of the compact segment, which is the flagship of its family, and, in combination, the first car of this class in the history of the South Korean manufacturer, which combines spectacular design with the practicality of traditional “ of a cargo-passenger body "... The pre-premiere display of the third generation car, developed by the efforts of the European division of Kia, took place on September 13, 2018 as part of a special event, but its full-scale debut "thundered" only a few weeks later at the stands of the International Paris Auto Show. After another “change of generations”, the car was not only renamed (from “pro_cee’d” to “ProCeed”), but also the concept was completely redesigned: from a three-door hatch it was transformed into a “shooting break”.
The “third” Kia ProCeed looks impressive - the five-door attracts the eye with a beautiful, proportional and dynamic appearance (of course, because it is offered only in the GT Line and GT versions with all the ensuing consequences), and it repeats other “brothers” in the family only from the front.
In profile, the coupe-like station wagon demonstrates elegant and squat proportions with expressive sides, a sloping roof that smoothly merges into the rear pillars that are heavily piled forward, and an arched glass line, and its tightly knocked rear is crowned with sophisticated lights, a compact trunk lid and an impressive bumper with two trapezoidal nozzles systems.
The visually “charged” GT modification can be recognized by the front bumper with more developed air intakes, the rear diffuser and red accents “scattered” on the body.
The third generation Kia ProCeed is 4605 mm long, 1800 mm wide and 1422 mm high. The center distance of the car has a 2650 mm gap, and under the bottom, it has a 150 mm ground clearance.
Inside, the South Korean "Shooting Break" as a whole repeats its "brothers" in the family - a beautiful, modern and solid European design, high-quality finishing materials, a good level of workmanship and a comfortable rear sofa that can accommodate three adult passengers.
But already in the "base" the decoration of the five-door boasts a relief multi-steering wheel with a rim truncated in the lower part, metal inserts on the door cards and front seats with well-developed lateral support and leather trim.
For all the external sportiness, practicality is also not alien to the "third" Kia ProCeed - the trunk of the station wagon coupe has an almost perfect shape, and in its normal state it can hold up to 594 liters of luggage. The second row of seats folds down in three parts in a 40:20:40 ratio, which significantly increases the vehicle's cargo capacity.
For the third incarnation of the Kia ProCeed, a wide range of turbocharged and direct fuel injection powertrains is offered:
- By default, under the hood of the five-door there is a 1.0-liter T-GDI petrol "troika", generating 120 horsepower and 172 Nm of torque.
- Next in the hierarchy is the four-pot T-GDI 1.4-liter petrol engine that develops 140 hp. and 242 Nm of rotational potential.
- The diesel version relies on a 1.6-liter CRDI inline-four producing 136 hp. and 280 Nm of peak thrust.
- Well, the "top-end" GT-modification is driven by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder T-GDI petrol engine, which produces 204 hp. and 265 Nm of torque.
Two types of gearboxes are installed on the "shooting break" - a 6-speed "mechanics" or a 7-band preselective "robot" with a pair of clutches (it does not fit only with a 120-horsepower unit).
From a constructive point of view, the Kia ProCeed 2019 model year does not differ from simple "Sids" - front-wheel drive architecture "K2" with a transversely mounted motor and a large amount of high-strength steel in the body structure, independent front and rear suspensions (respectively - MacPherson struts and multi-link), active electric power steering and disc brakes "in a circle" (ventilated on the front axle) with ABS, EBD and other "chips".
At the same time, the coupe-like station wagon has different, "sharp" steering and chassis settings, while the GT version has even more "fighting".
In the Russian market, Kia ProCeed is offered in only two modifications to choose from - "GT-Line" and "GT", which are driven by 1.4 T-GDI and 1.6 T-GDI engines, respectively.
- The initial version of the five-door will cost from 1,519,900 rubles, and its basic configuration includes: six airbags, 17-inch alloy wheels, a media center with a 7-inch touchscreen, an audio system with six speakers, fully LED optics, ERA-GLONASS technology, ABS, BAS, VSM, rain and light sensors, electric handbrake, dual-zone climate control, rear parking sensors, cruise control, keyless entry and engine start, as well as heating all seats, steering wheel, rear-view mirrors, windscreen washer nozzles and glass.
- For the GT version, dealers ask at least 1,999,900 rubles, and its features (in addition to a more powerful power unit) are: an electric sunroof, 18-inch wheels, leather interior trim, electric front seats and a tailgate, blind spot monitoring, a system reverse parking assist, front parking sensors, multimedia with an 8-inch display and navigation, JBL music, adaptive cruise control, car parking, as well as traffic sign recognition, emergency braking and driver fatigue monitoring.
