The Lexus UX 200 is a front-wheel-drive luxury SUV in the subcompact segment that boasts a striking design, luxurious interior, modern fittings and rich equipment ... Its primary target audience is young, tech-savvy city dwellers (with a good annual income), for many of which the Japanese SUV will be either the "premium entry ticket" or the "first Lexus" ...

The world premiere of the serial off-road vehicle took place in March 2018 - on the catwalks of the International Geneva Motor Show (and its conceptual forerunner of the same name was shown to the general public back in September 2016 - at a bride show in Paris).

This car became the smallest representative of the lineup of the premium brand from the Land of the Rising Sun, but at the same time it received a completely "adult" technique and embodied a number of innovative solutions.

Externally, the Lexus UX boasts an attractive, bold, original and modern look, which is dominated by broken lines and sharp corners. The bold front end of the crossover flaunts the scowl of LED headlights, the huge hourglass grille and fangs of air intakes along the bumper edges, and its tightly knit stern catches the eye with dramatic lanterns connected by a light line and a sculpted bumper.

In profile, the five-door is characterized by a squat and dynamic shape with a long hood, a rear roof pillar piled forward, embossed sidewalls and impressive wheel arches of a rounded-square structure.

For an additional fee, the F Sport package is offered for this SUV, which exalts a little more aggression in its appearance, while limiting itself to "little blood" - a radiator grille with a fine-mesh pattern, and exclusive 18-inch wheel rims.

In terms of its dimensions, the Lexus UX does not go beyond the subcompact segment: it measures 4495 mm in length, of which the distance between the front and rear axles extends to 2640 mm, extends to 1840 mm in width and reaches 1520 mm in height.

The ground clearance of the five-door is a modest 160 mm, and its curb weight does not exceed 1460 kg (while the gross weight just barely reaches 2 tons).

The interior of the subcompact crossover resembles other Lexuses and looks modern, purebred and elegant.

A three-spoke multi-steering wheel with embossed splashes on the rim, a virtual instrument cluster and a solid center console with a large infotainment display adjacent to an analog clock and a laconic microclimate unit - inside the car pleases not only with its design, but also with carefully thought-out ergonomics. In addition to this, the "Japanese" can boast of exceptionally high-quality finishing materials - pleasant plastics, aluminum, genuine leather and others.

For front riders, the Lexus UX has comfortable seats with optimal lateral support, a large number of adjustments and heating, and, as an option, also with an electric drive.

The back row is distinguished by the presence of a comfortable sofa, an almost flat floor and sufficient (but not excessive) space on all fronts for three passengers.

Behind the "habitable compartment" of the SUV, a modest luggage compartment is organized - only 227 liters, excluding the underground. The situation is improved by the folding of two unequal sections (in the ratio "60:40") "gallery", which forms a completely flat cargo area.

On versions with 17 "wheels, a small spare tire is hidden in an underground niche, while versions with 18" rollers can boast run-flat tires.

Under the hood of the Lexus UX 200 there is an atmospheric gasoline "four" Dynamic Force with a working volume of 2.0 liters with an in-line arrangement, a high compression ratio (13: 1), a thermal efficiency of 40%, direct fuel injection, "intelligent" VVT-iE technology, advanced cooling system and variable displacement oil pump.

The engine produces 171 horsepower at 6600 rpm and 205 Nm of torque at 4800 rpm, but for the Russian market it is biased to a "taxable" 150 hp. at the same revs and 202 Nm of peak thrust at 4300 rpm.

As standard, the car is equipped with a fundamentally new Direct Shift CVT transmission, which combines a variator with a mechanical first gear and directs all traction to the wheels of the front axle.

Such a symbiosis makes it possible to start more quickly from a place, after which the variator part begins to function directly.

The SUV accelerates from zero to the first "hundred" in 9.2 seconds, and reaches a maximum of 190 km / h. In the combined driving mode, 5.8 liters of fuel are enough for 100 km of run.


At the heart of the Lexus UX is the modular TNGA platform, or to be more precise, its version for compact models called GA-C, which implies a transverse engine arrangement.

The power structure of the body of the car for a wide proportion consists of high-strength steel; doors, hood and fenders are made of aluminum; and the trunk lid is composite.

On both axles of the five-door, independent suspensions with conventional springs, passive shock absorbers and anti-roll bars are used: at the front - MacPherson type, at the rear - a double wishbone system.

It has a rack and pinion steering with an adaptive electric booster, and all its wheels are equipped with disc brakes (on the front axle - with ventilation) with ABS, EBD and other "chips".


In the Russian market, Lexus UX 200 can be purchased in four trim levels to choose from - "#Live", "#Enjoy", "#FSport" and "#Discover".

A car in the basic version will cost from 2,316,000 rubles, and its functionality includes: eight airbags, LED headlights and lights, 17-inch alloy wheels, a media center with a 7-inch screen, dual-zone climate control, a light sensor, a system tire pressure monitoring, electromechanical "handbrake", cruise control, heated front seats, audio system with six speakers, ABS, EBD, VSC, ERA-GLONASS technology and other modern equipment.

A crossover in the “#Enjoy” version costs from 2,422,000 rubles, the “#FSport” version is not cheaper than 2,669,000 rubles, and the “top” modification is sold at a price of 2,849,000 rubles.

The most "sophisticated" car boasts: a rain sensor, 18-inch wheels, fog lights, electric heated steering wheel, front and rear parking sensors, an electric steering column and front seats, keyless entry and engine start, a rear-view camera, roof rails, "music "Mark Levinson with 13 speakers, a fifth door servo and other" tricks ".
