On September 21, 2016, the German automaker Daimler AG demonstrated for the first time on the World Wide Web its vision of a cargo-and-passenger off-road model based on the current Mercedes-Benz E-class “shed” (with the S213 body index), called the All-Terrain.

The car appeared before the general public under the spotlights of one of the world's leading motor shows, which took place at the end of September 2016 in the capital of France, and went on sale in the first half of 2017 (including in Russia).

The "all-terrain" intentions of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain are expressed through a radiator grill with two crossbars, designed in the spirit of the brand's crossovers, unpainted plastic "armor" around the body, more severe bumpers and wheel rims of the original design with a diameter of 19 20 inches.

In length, the "yeshka" of increased cross-country ability is extended by 4923 mm, its width and height are 1852 mm and 1468 mm, respectively, and the wheelbase is 2939 mm. The ground clearance of the station wagon, thanks to the suspension, varies from 121 to 156 mm, and in the "All-Terrain" mode it can reach 176 mm (operates at a speed not exceeding 35 km / h).

Inside the Mercedes-Benz E-class of the All-Terrain modification there are no special differences from the standard model, with the exception of sports pedals made of stainless steel, decorative inserts made of aluminum and special floor mats.

The decoration of the five-door is decorated in the "family" style of the German brand and "flaunts" the highest quality workmanship and exceptionally expensive finishing materials, and can accommodate up to five adult riders. The volume of the luggage compartment of the off-road utility vehicle is from 670 to 1820 liters, and the “gallery” folds flush with the floor in the ratio “40:20:40”.

Specifications. Initially, the station wagon was offered in one version, the E 220 d 4Matic. The car is armed with a 2.0-liter in-line diesel unit with a turbocharger, direct injection and a timing belt with 16 valves, producing 194 "horses" at 3800 rpm and 400 Nm of output potential at 1600-2800 rpm. As standard, the five-door is equipped with a 9-speed "automatic" 9G-TRONIC and 4Matic all-wheel drive system.

Thanks to this "stuffing", from the start to 100 km / h Mercedes-Benz E-Class in the All-Terrain solution accelerates in 8 seconds, maximally changing 232 km / h, and consumes no more than 5.1 liters of fuel for each mixed "hundred".

It is worth noting that in the future, the cross-wagon will replenish its power line with a more powerful 258-horsepower diesel engine and gasoline engines, with which, most likely, it will reach the Russian market.

In terms of technology, the "off-road" modification of the Mercedes-Benz E-class repeats the standard version of the "yeshka" - the station wagon uses a "rear-wheel drive" MRA platform with an independent chassis "in a circle" (a double-lever in front, and a multi-link in the back) and a body made of steel and aluminum ...
The car is equipped with an electric power steering system and disc brakes on all wheels (ventilated on the front axle) with a whole bunch of modern electronics. In addition, the "base" of the five-door has a pneumatic Air Body Control system, endowed with an "off-road" mode.

Options and prices. In Russia, the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain is offered in a single “Luxury” configuration at a price of 3,990,000 rubles. By default, the station wagon "flaunts": seven airbags, air suspension, leather interior design, 19-inch wheels, a parking lot, LED optics front and rear, electric drive and heated front seats, a rear view camera, zone "climate", multimedia center and premium " music ". In addition, the basic equipment includes ABS, ASR, ESP, ERA-GLONASS system, driver fatigue control technology and power windows for all doors.
But that's not all - a huge list of optional equipment is also announced for the utility vehicle.
