"Alive" the car appeared before the world audience in September 2013 at a bride show in Frankfurt, and the next month its official sales started in the countries of the Old World.
In March 2017, the restyled "Spaceback" debuted at the International Geneva Motor Show - a small number of new touches in the exterior and interior were added to the car, the list of equipment was expanded and the power palette was enriched with economical engines.
Outside, it will not be difficult to recognize the Skoda Rapid Spaceback against the background of the liftback - its distinctive feature is the different structure of the rear, in which the features of both hatchbacks and station wagons can be traced. As a result, the car looks attractive, dynamic and expressive, and the panoramic roof exalts a special charisma in its appearance.
The five-door is 4304 mm long, and its width and height reach 1706 mm and 1459 mm, respectively. The wheelbase of the "Czech" is 2602 mm, and its ground clearance is 136 mm. In running order, the car weighs from 1165 to 1290 kg, depending on the motor used.
Inside, the Rapid Spaceback is a typical representative of the Skoda brand: it has a strict but rather boring design, well-thought-out ergonomics, a good level of assembly and good finishing materials.
In terms of capacity, the station wagon hatchback repeats the liftback - it is able to accept the driver and his four companions without any problems, and both front and rear are equipped with comfortable and reasonably tight seats.
With practicality, "Spaceback" is in complete order - its trunk has the correct shape and in the standard form "absorbs" 415 liters of luggage. The rear sofa is "sawn" into two unequal sections that fit into a flat area and increase the stock of free space up to 1381 liters.
A wide range of power units is declared for the Skoda Rapid Spaceback:
- The petrol "combined" consists of in-line three- and four-cylinder units with a volume of 1.0-1.4 liters with turbocharging, direct fuel supply and variable valve timing, which generate 95-125 horsepower and 160-200 Nm of torque.
- The diesel line combines turbocharged "troikas" and fours with a volume of 1.4-1.6 liters with a vertical layout and a direct "power supply" system, producing 90-116 hp. and 230-250 Nm of available potential.
The engines are mated to 5- or 6-speed "manual" or 7-band robotic gearboxes, which deliver the entire power reserve to the front wheels.
Acceleration from standstill to 100 km / h takes 8.9-11.7 seconds for the car, and its maximum speed is 183-205 km / h.
Petrol versions of the five-door "eat" 4.4-4.8 liters of fuel in combined conditions, and diesel - 3.9-4.1 liters.
Structurally, the Skoda Rapid Spaceback repeats the liftback - it is based on a front-wheel drive platform "PQ25" (aka "A05 +") with an independent MacPherson-type architecture in front and a semi-independent torsion beam at the rear.
The car is equipped with an electromechanical power steering and braking system with discs on all wheels (ventilated in the front), ABS and other modern electronics.
The Skoda Rapid Spaceback is not officially supplied to the Russian market, but in its homeland (in the Czech Republic) it is sold at a price of 299,900 kroons (~ 782 thousand rubles).
Nominally, the hatchback wagon is equipped with: four airbags, power windows for the front doors, heated and electrically operated exterior mirrors, ABS, ESC, ASR, audio preparation and some other equipment.
