In mid-March 2016, Chevrolet presented the world with an "extreme" version of the sixth generation Camaro two-door with the ZL1 prefix in its name, which has traditionally become the most powerful among the "civilian" versions of this sports car.

The first thing that catches your eye is that the car was "overgrown" with a formidable aerodynamic body kit (it took 100 hours to test), and under the hood are hidden - a powerful "eight" and (optionally) a 10-band "automatic".

The public debut of the "super-coupe" took place in late March (at the international auto show in New York), and entered the market by the end of 2016.

The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 looks much more aggressive than its standard "brother", and the credit for this belongs to the already mentioned powerful aerodynamic body kit around the body perimeter, a raised hood, widened wheel arches, a powerful spoiler and 20-inch wheels of the original design ("wrapped" in tires dimension 285/30 / R20 at the front and 305/30 / R20 at the rear).

The length of the "charged" muscle car is 4784 mm, and its width and height do not exceed 1897 mm and 1348 mm, respectively. There is a gap of 2811 mm between the axles.

Inside, the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 showcases Recaro sports seats with a pronounced profile, a trimmed steering wheel and numerous nameplates with a model index.

There are no other features inside - it is all the same attractive, modern and high-quality decoration, designed for two people.

Specifications. In the engine compartment of the “extreme” version of the sixth generation Camaro, a 6.2-liter (6162 cubic centimeters) LT4 V-shaped petrol V-shaped engine with a direct fuel supply and a mechanical supercharger is “registered”. It generates the maximum herd of 650 "heads" at 6400 rpm and 868 Nm of torque at 3600 rpm.

By default, the engine works in unison with a 6-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive transmission, and optionally with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

With this technique, the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 picks up the "first hundred" in 3.5 seconds and accelerates to a maximum of 320-330 km / h.

Like the standard model, the "charged" coupe is built on a rear-wheel drive "bogie" Alpha with a "multi-link" in front and a "five-link" at the rear, as well as a rack and pinion steering device with an electric power amplifier.

As standard, such a car is equipped with an adaptive Magnetic Ride chassis, an electronically controlled limited slip differential and a dual-mode exhaust system.

The harsh nature of the engine is pacified by a powerful Brembo brake complex with six-piston front and two-piston rear calipers (the diameter of the "pancakes" on the front axle is 390 mm).

Options and prices. In the US, sales of the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 started in the second half of 2016 at a price of 55 ~ 60 thousand dollars for the "basic" version (but the car is unlikely to appear on the Russian market).

The standard powerful coupe is equipped with: front and side airbags, climate system, multimedia center, Recaro seats, adaptive suspension, LED headlights, 20-inch wheel disks, launch control, ESP, ABS and a lot of other modern equipment.
