At the stands of the Beijing Motor Show at the end of April 2016, the third generation of the mid-engined two-door Porsche Cayman celebrated its international premiere, which not only replaced the previous six-cylinder "aspirated" engines with supercharged "fours", but also tried on a new name - 718 Cayman. In addition, the car has undergone cosmetic rejuvenation and has acquired significantly improved technology.

The car will reach Russian consumers in September 2016, but since April it is available for pre-order.

Beautiful, recognizable, completely - externally, the Porsche 718 Cayman will not leave anyone indifferent thanks to the bright and athletic body lines with a strong windshield obstruction, a slight "hump" of the roof, huge strokes of wheel arches and mouth-watering "hips". In the front part of the two-door, drop-shaped headlights with LED "filling" and large air ducts in the bumper draw attention to themselves, and the embossed stern attracts the eye with spectacular lanterns and a real diffuser with an exhaust pipe in the center.

In length, the "718th Cayman" is stretched by 4379 mm, its wheelbase is located within 2475 mm, and the height and width fit into 1286 mm and 1801 mm, respectively. In the "combat" state, the German coupe weighs from 1335 to 1365 kg, depending on the modification.

Inside, the Porsche 718 Cayman flaunts a stylish and attractive interior with stunning attention to detail, the highest quality workmanship and exceptionally expensive finishes.

"Toolkit" two-door, traditionally for cars of the brand, is assembled from three "wells", and a sports multi-steering wheel with relief forms is installed right in front of it. The sloping center console is crowned with a 7-inch "TV" of the entertainment and information center, below which are concentrated controls for the "climate", audio system and other important functions.

The decoration of the Porsche 718 Cayman is two-seater - each of the riders falls into the arms of bucket seats with a pronounced side profile, rigid filling and small adjustment ranges, and optionally with heating and ventilation.

Due to the central location of the engine "Cayman" of the third incarnation has two luggage compartments at once with a volume of 150 liters in front and 275 liters in the rear. A spare wheel for a compact coupe is not available a priori - it is equipped only with a compressor and sealant.

Specifications. The Porsche 718 Cayman is powered by a 2.0-liter petrol engine (1988 cubic centimeters) with an opposed configuration of four "pots", direct fuel injection under a pressure of up to 250 atmospheres, a turbocharger, centralized injectors and a dry sump lubrication system.
Its ultimate output is 300 "horses" at 6500 rpm and 380 Nm of torque, which is supplied to the wheels in the range from 1950 to 4500 rpm.

As a standard, the motor is mated with a 6-speed manual gearbox, and as an option, a 7-band PDK gearbox with automatic and manual speed change modes is supplied for it.

From the start to the first "hundred" a two-door with "mechanics" rushes in 5.1 seconds, and with a robotic transmission it copes with this discipline by 0.2 seconds faster (the "Sport Chromo" package reduces acceleration by another 0.2 seconds). Regardless of the modification, the car gains 275 km / h top speed, but its "fuel appetite" ranges from 6.9 to 7.4 liters in a combined cycle per 100 km of run.

The basis for the Porsche 718 Cayman is the upgraded rear-wheel drive platform of its predecessor with a centrally located power plant, a monocoque body with a wide use of aluminum in the structure and an independent architecture of "circular" suspension architecture based on McPherson struts with transverse stabilizers. As an option, the vehicle offers a PASM chassis with active dampers and a ground clearance reduced by 10 mm.
By default, the German coupe is equipped with a rack and pinion steering system with a variable gear ratio and an electromechanical power steering. All wheels of the car accommodate ventilated and perforated brake discs, clamped by monoblock 4-piston “winged metal” calipers, measuring 330 mm and 299 mm front and rear, respectively, supplemented by ABS, EBD and the darkness of other modern “assistants”.

Options and prices. Russian buyers Porsche 718 Cayman in 2016 is offered at a price of 3,620,000 rubles for the basic configuration, but for a car with a robotic transmission will have to pay from 3,798,929 rubles.
The standard equipment of a mid-engined sports car includes: airbags for the driver and passenger, alloy wheels with dimensions of 18 inches, ABS, ASR, ABD, MSR, electric parking brake, sound system with 8 speakers, bi-xenon front optics, dual-zone "climate "And a lot of other high-tech equipment.
In addition to this, a large number of optional "gadgets" are provided for the "German", among which are: rims up to 20 inches, LED headlights, parking assistance, adaptive PASM suspension, navigation system and various interior trim options.
