In 1986, the Japanese company Mitsubishi presented to the world the second generation compact pickup truck L200, developed in-house. The car has changed significantly compared to its predecessor, having received several body solutions and an automatic transmission.

It remained on the assembly line until 1996, although in Brazil its production was carried out practically unchanged until 2007.

The second generation Mitsubishi L200 is a compact pickup truck that was offered with single two-door or double four-door cab types.

Depending on the modification, the length of the "truck" was from 4501 to 4920 mm, width - from 1655 to 1687 mm, height - from 1486 to 1636 mm. The distance between the axles of the car took from 2680 to 2950 kg, and its curb weight varied from 1220 to 1435 kg.

Specifications. Under the hood of the "second" Mitsubishi L200, you can find various options for power plants.

  • The gasoline part of the pickup was represented by in-line "fours" with a volume of 2.0-2.6 liters, generating from 92 to 130 horsepower, and a V-shaped "six" with a volume of 3.0 liters, producing 141 "horses" and 233 Nm of peak torque.
  • The car was equipped with a 2.5-liter turbocharged diesel engine, the output of which reached 74-84 forces and 142-201 Nm of torque.

In tandem with the engines, a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 4-speed automatic gearbox was supplied, directing all the potential to the wheels of the rear axle. For the most productive gasoline version, an all-wheel drive transmission was offered.

The 2nd generation pickup featured a powerful frame in the body structure, independent double wishbone torsion bar suspension at the front and dependent leaf spring architecture at the rear. The steering mechanism of the car was equipped with a hydraulic power steering, and the braking system "flaunted" ventilated discs on the front and "drums" on the rear wheels.

The "second" Mitsubishi L200 is a utilitarian car with a nondescript, typical interior for its class. It is well suited for off-roading, has a reliable design, long-travel suspension and good lifting capacity, however, certain problems with finding spare parts may arise during servicing.
